Progress and done

In Grunna, progress is measured by finished work.

Movement, activity, and partial completion are not treated as progress. Only completion moves work forward.

What progress means

Progress in Grunna is observable.

When a todo is completed, it moves to done. This is the only signal of progress Grunna relies on.

Everything else is preparation, thinking, or execution — but not progress.

Done is a final state

When a todo is marked as done, it is finished.

Done items do not move back to the list. They are not reopened, recycled, or adjusted.

This rule protects the meaning of completion and keeps historical data reliable.

If something was wrong

If completed work turns out to be incorrect or incomplete, Grunna does not undo history.

Instead, a new todo is created — or a bug, if the issue is incorrect existing behavior.

The Decision Owner owns that classification. The important part is that the original work remains done, and new work is now required.

Why done does not move

Allowing done items to move back into execution blurs the boundary between finished and unfinished work.

Over time, this erodes trust in the workflow and makes it impossible to reason about progress or throughput.

By keeping done immutable, Grunna maintains a truthful history of completed work.

Progress without pressure

Because progress is defined by completion rather than speed, Grunna does not require constant status reporting.

The list itself shows what is done, what is active, and what remains.

This removes the need for frequent check-ins, updates, or justification of work.

Why this matters

By treating done as a final state, Grunna creates a clear signal of progress, protects historical data, and reduces ambiguity.

The result is a workflow where finishing work is valued more than appearing busy.
